How to Deal With Anxiety & Stress!

June 4, 2020

Are you feeling a little (or a lot) anxious and stressed lately?

I know I am. There's a lot going on out there right now, and most of it is pretty scary. We are also out of our normal routines and we have a lot more time to dwell on the scary stuff, am I right? This can cause us to become anxious and stressed even just watching the news on TV!

Today, we have Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Maryanne Tranter back on with us to talk about ANXIETY and STRESS: what it is, what are the signs, what happens inside our bodies when we are stressed, and what are some ways kids can help themselves deal with it.

This was great information that I was able to use IMMEDIATELY to help reduce my stress level, and ANYONE can do it!

Also in this episode, Chuck Darwin tells us the definition of Hormone, Captain Jack answers a listener's question about signs your dog might be stressed or anxious,  and Tito tells us which animals are the most stressed out on Earth. I thought it would be Skinny Pigs by the way Edgar and Clarice sometimes behave, but surprisingly, it's not. It might not be what you think it is, either!

For Parents & Guardians:
In this episode, we learn to identify the signs of stress and anxiety, recognize if we have it, and learn help calm ourselves with some easy tools. This is a project that kids of most ages can participate in without the help or supervision of an adult. It teaches self-observation skills and opens up a conversation about current events and what kids might be feeling about them. It also makes kids feel empowered by getting them involved in helping themselves, which can...reduce their stress and anxiety! This episode features the Weird & Wacky Word of the Week, as well as recognizing stress in pets, and which animals are the most stress animals on Earth.
